“But Enough About You” 7

Consider the placement and wording of William’s thesis. Why do you think Williams might have chosen this placement and wording?

The way William structured his thesis attracts the reader's attention. His thesis "It's all about you. Me. And all the various forms of the First Person Singular." is attention-grabbing and interesting. The choppy sentences give a sense of rush which has the reader want to go on to read the next part. Also, he connects with the reader by putting the words "you" and "me" which shows how everyone can relate to what his message is trying to convey.

William's thesis, "It's all about you. Me. And all the various forms of the First Person Singular." makes people want to disagree. By saying that everyone is egocentric in their views of life Williams brings up a point most people don't like to face as truth. His point, as true as it is, is something no one likes to admit because being egocentric is looked down upon by society so we tend to hide our egocentric actions behind helping actions. The placement of Williams' thesis is vital because he puts it in the first paragraph to grab the readers attention. His wording makes the reader keep reading because it is somewhat offensive to say everyone thinks the world revolves around oneself.

Williams places and words the thesis as he does to give a greater impact on the people.
Williams uses incomplete sentences but he shows his complete thought which shows the reader how we control the media. This wording allows the whole article to be dynamic and not monotonous and allows one to get involved. The placing and wording of Williams’ thesis builds up to the main point by telling the reader what the whole article is about. Just like the title of this article “But Enough About You...” the thesis gives a great effect of the reader catching one’s attention.

Williams might have chosen this placement and wording to relate to the audience, like in a speech to form a connection with the audience. When he says "It's all about you. Me. And all the various forms of the First Person Singular.", he emphasizes in the word "you" and "me" which make it seem that he is directly talking to the readers. It makes readers ask "about me? What? Why?" Also, in the first two sentences Williams, he is kind of narrating. For instance when he says "While the mainstream media were having lunch...”, it gains attention to the readers.
