In paragraph 1, Williams refers to the mainstream media as “having lunch.” What does this phrase suggest?

The phrase Williams referring to the mainstream media ("having lunch") in paragraph 1, suggests that people do not have time to relax. Just the act of "having lunch," can have the media left behind in the dust. To be in tempo with the interests of people does not allow even the smallest time for breathing. The rush of cultural evolution makes everyone be on their toes to keep up and be part of society's interests.

In paragraph one, following the phrase "having lunch", Williams explains that in life there isn't time for "having lunch". What he means by this is that life goes by fast and no one is about to wait for you to advance or succeed. Life is a constant struggle against time, if you hesitate or pause, even for a second, life won't wait for you. That is why "having lunch" is like a waste of time since everyone who doesn't pause advances before you.
